چکیده
Introduction and Aim: Acinetobacter baumannii, is the cause of many nosocomial infections which poses a serious threat to patients. Being highly resistant organism, it has been placed in critical priority list by WHO 2017, thereby requiring newer effective drugs alternative strategies. Increased antibiotic resistance made difficult treat patients infected with this organism. The study aimed find biofilm forming ability multidrug A.baumannii causing respiratory tract infections, genes responsible for production effect Cymbopogon citratus (lemon grass) extract on biofilm. Materials Methods: antibiogram profile was studied isolates obtained from endotracheal aspirates, tubing tips susceptibility testing Vitek-2. Genes known be associated production, (AbOmpA, Bap) were detected Polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC), Bactericidal (MBC), Biofilm (MBIC), Eradication (MBEC) essential oil determined microtiter plate method. Results: Isolates that tested found Multidrug (MDR) Extremely drug (XDR) highest Carbapenems (95.83%). Activity EO determined. predominantly showed MIC 2% MBC 8%. MBIC 1%. However, did not eradicate preformed biofilms. All 24 AbOmpA gene six presence Bap gene. Conclusion: This demonstrated produced (XDR). formation inhibited Lemongrass (EO) but

Multidrug-Resistant Acinetobacter baumannii
To understand the epidemiology of multidrug-resistant (MDR) Acinetobacter baumannii and define individual risk factors for multidrug resistance, we used epidemiologic methods, performed organism typing by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE), and conducted a matched case-control retrospective study. We investigated 118 patients, on 27 wards in Israel, in whom MDR A. baumannii was isolated fr...

The Netherlands evaluation assumed that antiviral d...
